Calculation of the transferred energy  by waterjet:

\(E = {3,1415pd^2CdV^3 \over 8}\)

d = orifice of the capillary section in m

Cd = discharge coefficient 

E = energy rate in J/s

 

Specific energy is calculated based on the following formula:

SE (J/kg fabric) = E / M 

M = massflow rate of the fabric in Kg/s and is calculated as follows:

M = Samplewidth (M) * Basisweight (kg/m²) * Bettspeed (m/s)
